Yay contest prize for =LaxyWolf. ;P
I'm actually quite proud of this! haha. So I hope you like it as much as I do! Your character was a whole lot of fun to draw. ^^

I said I would write a critique on this like a year ago, right? xDD

Well, let me start off by saying this piece is gorgeous, probably my favorite drawing from you. The dynamic perspective and motion makes it a very interesting piece to look at. I also love how you really captured the pose in your own style.
The way you draw grass is beautiful, too. I've always admired how creamy you make your grass look. It has so much movement and looks so natural.

However, one of the first things I noticed with this picture is that the highlights on the outstreched foreleg are quite a bit darker than the highlights on the foreleg that's on the ground. Although that could make sense since that leg is farther from the sun, the darkness has a weird effect on the perspective. The heavier shadows make it look as though that leg is "pushed" farther into the background, as opposed to the foreground where it's supposed to be. Just adding a bright highlight on the paw would improve the problem immensely.

I also noticed the opposite problem with the mountains. Like someone else said, backgrounds get lighter the farther back you go. Making the mountains (especially the mountain tops) lighter would add a lot of atmospheric perspective. :3

One other thing is the overall shading. Even though the picture is backlit there's still always ambient light. The wolf would look less flat if you put in a layer of darker shading to define the muscles and such.

Somebody else already mentioned how the casted shadow from the back legs should cross, so I won't talk about that. x3 However, I also noticed that the casted shadow from the closest foreleg is a bit off. The picture is backlit so the casted shadow from that closest foreleg shouldn't be visible in the picture.

One other thing I noticed looked off is the teeth. Rather than pointing out from the mouth, the look kind of folded up. Here's a redline: [link] Also, the top and bottom jaws didn't quite seem to line up so I tried to fix that in the redline as well.

I noticed that you put a motion blur on the clouds. Since the wolf has a motion blur on it, it's best to keep the background in focus. I know of an easy and slightly weird-looking way to figure out what to blur in a moving picture. xD Focus on a wall or something unmoving and wave your hand quickly in front of it. The details on the wall will stay in focus while your hand will blur. However, if you focus on your hand waving rather that the wall, your hand will stay relatively in-focus but the wall will blur. Lol, well the point of all of that: keep the clouds defined.

However, if you were to put in a foreground (which I would definitely recommend for a picture like this) you could blur what was in the foreground and it should look normal. I think it would look really good if you put a few blades of blurred grass in the right foreground of the picture. It would give it a lot more depth.

Other than that, I would just recommend putting more grass in from of the forepaw that's touching the ground. Right now it looks a little float-y.

But again, this is a beautiful piece Zandy. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h…" width="15" height="13" alt="" title="Heart"/> I've always really loved looking at you art and I've always admired your style. Never stop drawing stuff like this! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/g/g…" width="47" height="20" alt=":glomp:" title="Glomp!"/>

Well, I hope this wall of text critique is helpful to you in some way. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h…" width="38" height="15" alt="" title="Hug"/>
